Enable an output option. There's a USB-C port so enable output to HDMI!

Disabling the TV output feature is like Meta shooting itself in the foot, which it has done numerous times. Why not utilize the full features of the hardware? Otherwise, you will be left behind by your competitors in this space (Amazon, Google.)

The USB C port on the portal exists and I have connected it to my TV, via an USB C to HDMI connector.
However it does not show a signal on the TV.
Does anyone know a solution? -

So frustrating Gen1 gets the feature and Gen2 its removed! I bought a Portal as it has dual features (smart video calls and also digital photo frame) and a TV unit for my son who lives overseas. Come on guys can we please have the feature back so we can display the video full screen on TV please? Thanks.

Disabling this when moving from gen 1 to gen 2 is a backward step.
That it still hasn't been implemented just shows that Facebook don't care about user feedback but are more interested in profit by making users who want to use on a tv also by Portal TV -

Please enable this feature - I have my portal (gen2) sitting under my main family room TV and it would be fantastic to be able to use my TV to see the people I'm conferencing with.

I have purchased seven Portal Minis for my family and have just purchased a 10" Portal for myself.
It would be very useful to add this feature to my Portal!

I agree many senior users don't have a CEC enabled TV.
My understanding is that Portal TV does not have its own speakers so the user might not know that they are being called unless the TV (through the CEC HDMI) turns on, switch to HDMI source and play the sound. Current Portal is great as a stand alone device but it's still a pretty small screen at 10'' so it would be great to have the option to use as a stand alone (for shorter calls) and a TV out for longer ones. -

The Gen 1 has this. Gen 2 doesn't. FB removed video out via HDMI as they want to sell you Portal TV model.

With Zoom integration not being available on the Portal TV, we've gotten a number of Portal Gen 2 to conduct classes for a dance studio that has a lot of remote learners currently. It's quite challenging to have it on a small screen and would be wonderful to be able to see students on a large screen when we teach our Zoom classes

I have the Portal Gen 2 and would like to see this feature enabled. It is so disappointing that it is not available out of the box. Also, I do not understand why only some of the usb-c to hdmi adapters are listed in the link Craig shared. Shouldn't any usb-c to hdmi cable/adapter work?

It looks like they added it.

i think the portal needs a headphone jack ! and yes, the usb-c would be great it i could attach an external speaker. i think if you want the tv you should buy the tv portal. i love all the things the portal does. but why no earphones or headphones? i live in a small home and don't want to disturb my husband in the other room watching tv. thank you

I was able to connect it to my monitor and TV using a USB-C to HDMI video out cable. However audio continues to come thru the Portal's speakers only. Also the camera still being there on the Portal it is weird. Instead it's better to get a Portal TV.

It already has a USB-C port with video out via HDMI or DisplayPort. However imagine the scenario. The high quality Smart Camera is still on the Portal. If you connect it to a TV and look at the TV screen, you can't look at the Portal Camera unless you place the Portal right in front of the TV. Even then it would be weird because you can either look at the Portal camera or the TV.
