have got a work around that does work not the best but if you really want to connect i bought an echo and also installed in the same room i now drop in on echo and tell portal to call me It works
best option i have at this time for the 25 bucks it is worth it -

disappointed this is not there. It's a great device for the elderly - I just purchased 2 of them for mothers day. This is a very important feature!

Hi all. My mother has dementia and since she couldn't get hang of calling or answering i made i 8.5 x 11 sign and framed it and told staff to put by portal that read. To call say to picture, hey portal call betsy with picture of Betsy and all 4 daughters with picture on each line followed by Hey portal call "name" when we call and she can't answer she reads frame and talks to it snd portal hears and calls. One day portal was face down but she read picture frame and called. Hope this helps some. This coronavirus lockdown is making our elderly with dementia decline quickly with no human interaction. My mother is so depressed would be nice if FB heard our pleas for help

My mother in law is in a care home with no visitors due to Covid-19. She cannot answer her portal, please can we have auto answer or remote control.

Yes please add auto answer. My mum is technology inept and I'd like this feature so I can video call her. She suffers from low energy days and lives on her own so this would be a good feature.

Please provide an auto answer feature. I purchased the Portal tablet to communicate with my mom who's in a long term care home, which presently doesn't allow any visitors to protect them from Covid-19. She is a frail 90 year old and suffers from dementia. No matter how many attempts to explain how to answer a video call, it is as if it was the first time each and every time. The auto answer would allow me to contact her without any further inputs from her. I have locked down the tablet and have added myself as her only contact stored on the device. I can't emphasize enough how beneficial this feature would be for families in similar circumstances during this horrible pandemic. It's been over a month since my mom has last seen my face. What a difference that would make to her mental health. Please consider this option.

My Dad has Dementia and can not use a phone or any technology, but really benefits from seeing family members even just for a few minutes. Auto answer would be a perfect feature!

Auto answer is definitely a needed feature for all the adults setting this product up during the COVID-19 crisis for their senior parents, who are not able to answer incoming calls independently.

Definitely needed option - to make it fully plug & play, and totally intuitive to use. Installing & setting up is something we can do on site (connecting, creating Facebook / WhatsApp profiles, contacts, etc...) but when the user is on his own, it becomes critical to make it EASY: ex: auto answer and auto switch off, back to the former status after the call, etc... and ideally same when willing to call where user should just push "call" on the remote and the screen would turn on with a list of contacts to select from..
Please - great value to create now as all our beloved are confined and alone
