HAVE A PROCESS FOR REPAIRING A BROKEN SCREEN
My granddaughter accidentally dropped the portal. I can’t believer you DON’T HAVE A PROCESS TO REPAIR THE SCREEN. I understand it isn’t covered by a warranty. However, I am shocked and extremely disappointed that I can’t send it in to get the screen repaired. This is troubling to hear and feel the responsibility to let people know that it’s unrepairable. As friends have come over to see it and used this at work, I’ve given this high marks.
Now that I’ve found out the hard way that support and repair is below par, I’ll be sharing that too.
Please get a system in place where you can send in the portal to get a repair.

I thought it was against the Law to make expensive goods that couldn't have parts replaced! Portal Facebook, this is TRULY shocking. It's great little bit of very useful hardware, but it tipped over and smashed itself. Just like that!

Is this really true. It's absolutely shocking. Our portal accidentally tipped over and all the glass screen smashed. Clearly it is the WRONG sort of glass to do that SO easily.

I bought myself a Portal TV and also a 2019 Portal unit for my elderly parents in 2020. A few months ago the unit was accidentally knocked over and the screen cracked. It seems hypocritical to claim a commitment to sustainability but yet design in immediate obsolescence, in such a high end item too. It's really a rip-off. Absolutely there should be a screen repair service for these units. They are designed to keep young families and grandparents in contact, so obviously accidents will happen at some point with those age groups. Why should the entire unit be discarded just because of a *****? It's such a pity because the graphic and audio quality were excellent and my Mum, who wears two hearings aids, had finally started to enjoy videocalling. We are all gutted to find it's not repairable, and reluctant to invest another GBP 100 for a replacement. What a waste.

My portal screen was damaged this morning (a glass jar dropped on it) and now the image is blury and jumpy. I was hoping that I could just get the screen repaired, rather than purchasing a new device. I was shocked to find out that facebook portals are not repairable at this time. I guess I assumed with given the size of the company and their public statments regarding sustainability (https://sustainability.fb.com/) there would have been an system in place to repair broken devices. Within our imidiate family we own 5 devicers and I hate to think that all of them will end up in a landfill without an option to repair them. I hope facebook reconsiders this practice.

Very disappointed that there isn't a way to have this repaired. I try not to be wasteful this is bad for the environment and a waste of resources. I'd rather pay more and prolong the use of my item then just toss it in the trash and get another.

My friend dropped his portal and the screen cracked. The portal still works, but looks bad with a cracked screen. Sad to hear you cannot repair the screen. I can see that it could be cheaper to just buy another one. Will you take my friends Portal as a trade in for a new one at a cheaper price? He has the larger white Portal. He uses his Portal to live stream his church services, during this covid-10 shutdown. I bought him this Portal.
