Remote control of settings
Allow remote control of the device via app or browser. I think Grandma's that might not be very tech savvy are a big market for this device. I bought one for my 96 year old mother in law. Everything worked great when I left her, but now..... I wish I could get in remotely and check settings or diagnose.

I’m thinking more like telepresence. But without the wheels.

It's not just the elderly, but handicapped as well would benefit from remote control facilities

The Portal mini is a great device for my 81 year old mother who is slight dementia. If I could control the device remotely it would really help getting it back to operational after she messes around with it. A variant of this device with no physical buttons and being able to not configure anything from the screen would be ideal for older folks.

Me too !

My 92 year old mother can ask portal to call people...but...she cannot manage the portal remote...it is too small...if they would make it bigger, in a brighter colour with different coloured buttons it would help.
Do you inow if you can get any remotes for the elderly that would work with portal..
Even i find it quite small...forever losing it😂 -

Issue: Portal user interface is simple but not simple enough for most elderly people. Navigating the interface, joining a messenger room is a struggle and using applications or updating settings is next to impossible for them. And I don't even mention the scan of the QR code to link a WhatsApp account! All these manipulations are a real source of stress and distraught for them: "oh, I am so bad with these kind of things".
Potential solution: enable one or several contacts (family members) to take control of the Portal device remotely: updating settings but also answering calls, joining a messenger room, installing an application, etc.
Note that this solution does not prevent you from working on an alternative user interface adapted to elderly people (big buttons, bigger text, no slide gestures, no code to type, etc...)

Me too! A must have.

Absolutely right. I've spent some time looking for solutions to this as my elderly mother wouldn't be able to make any changes and is likely to accidently make changes that would need reverting.

I have the same issue - I bought this for my 90+ grandmother who is starting to have dementia. She has a really hard time with even simple changes to her Portal, even when I step her through them. I just need to be able to remotely control it for her - like with VNC, or with an app that lets me make changes to settings, accept the dialogs (such as the one that asks if it's okay to share music). It would be most convenient if I could just control the whole portal remotely from my web browser, like with VNC or GoToMyPC.
I'm happy to work with you to pilot some use cases - I'm an IT Architect, and for lack of any solutions with my Portal I'm putting something together with a Raspberry PI hooked up to her TV. I'd rather have it all in the Portal though!
