Louder ringtones for elderly parents!
Please make options for louder ringtones. My parents love seeing their grandchildren when they talk to them but seldom hear the portal ring from the other room or if the tv is on.

We desperately NEED the ring volume to be LOUDER. My parents are not able to detect incoming calls when they are in the same room. It's crazy that we have to call first to tell them to call us or go look at the portal so they can see the call coming in.

PLEASE do this!! In order for ring to be heard in another room, you have to turn volume all the way up. Then when you are on the call sitting in front of the device, the volume is WAY too loud. Elderly parents don’t know or won’t remember how to turn down or remember to turn back up for the next call!

In call voice volume and Portal ring volumes should be able to be controlled independently.

Bought my 88 year old mother a Portal for Christmas; frustrated that she cannot hear the ring for incoming calls. If she sets the volume higher, the music is way too loud. Please provide an option to change the ringtone volume independently of the overall volume.

Totally agree.
My father has MND and relies on his portal to communicate but he can’t hear it when it rings and it often doesn’t hear him when he is trying to answer the call :( -

Same problem. Elderly parent cannot hear Portal ring when we call. And often has trouble initiating call to family.

Portal has been bane and blessing. Blessing, esp. during the COVID lockdown, by keeping us in touch with elderly family members. A bane in that it has proven user-unfriendly to the elderly. In particular, they often cannot hear the "ring" of an incoming call. They also find it challenging to initiate a call--sometimes the try to touch the icon of the family member they want to call and that doe not work for them. At other times they use the voice commands but say too much

Totally agree with all comments. The incoming call tone is weird, sort of a quiet, slow, hesitant warble. As with many other users this is for 90 yr old, when she is not looking at the portal my mother doesn’t notice that it’s calling. There is only the dysfunctional whisper option as default. What was wrong with a simple ringing sound that can be heard by older people, remember that tone is also important as your ears age. Facebook has gone big time on installing all their apps, presumably for younger users/families, but marketed it to older users who really love it, then ignored their ability to actually use it SIMPLY.

My gripe is that the outgoing ringtone is much louder than the incoming sound. It should be the other way round. You are normally sitting at the portal when you are calling someone whereas you might not in the same room when someone is calling you.

Just bought the Portal for my 87 year old mother. Love it and it works great. I agree with the comments below. She actually is hard of hearing and has the volume at the max setting. Having additional options to connect a booster device or change ring tone would be a plus.

Once the call is ongoing the sound can come out at a very high volume (my parents normally don't hear without hearing devices and can hear me fine).
The only issue is the ringtone. It can't be changed and it's a sound that it's not easy to hear by them. I wish that they added an option to change the ringtone to a different one.

I'm thinking of buying a portal for my elderly parents. How loud does it ring when a call comes in and how load can voices be when talking on a call?

Please add additional louder and more distinctive ringtones for elderly. Additionally additional software that automatically switches back to AV TV once call is over
