Allow Portal TV to manual zoom
Portal TV currently does not support this great feature that is in the other Portal devices --being able to manually select the zoom amount. For some instances where you want to have a room to room experience, the auto-zoom actually zooms too much for a large TV screen.

Allow manual zoom for WhatsApp video calls - like the zoom app does!
Strange that third party app is designed with lot of thought and better controls than native app

I just purchased a porta tv..Lack of manual zoom completely destroyss the video call experience!!!
After buying 3 portals I thought the portal TV would be a great option.
The camera focuses so much that the resolution becomes pixelated!
Everytime someone moves everyone becomes dizzy because the camera constantly moves!
Allow manual setup of the viewing frame as in every other portal!!!
Consider checking this suggestion for saving and recalling camera presets:

In storytime you can select reader. Surely it's not that difficult to add the same feature to normal video calls. Still needs zoom control too but the reader focus is 90% of it.

I agree with all the previous contents. We just got 4 of these for our family. Not having manual zoom in/out capability is just silly. Considering returning all 4

I'm considering getting 2 Portal TVs but these comments made me stop and reconsider. After a little research though, it seems there is a way to...
1) stop it focusing on just one person
2) force it to maximise to full frame

Can other users confirm?
No manual pinch and zoom, which would have been good. -

Implementing this feature would be really easy since it already exists in all other portals. I bought a portal tv after owing a portal mini because i thought they had similar functions

I hate they took this future out, it was my main buying point.

I don’t understand why Facebook would remove the manual mode from its devices. This was a very useful feature that we consistently took advantage of. This is a huge downgrade to the platform in my opinion and I am very disappointed.

agree with 'mini' below for 149.00 the manual feature should have been built in default then if they wanted autozoom autofind whatever its called it could be enabled.
i have an 86, 89 mother and aunt i bought this for good news: they can video conf with family members vai fb mssgr, bad news the camera roams aournd so much they have to flail their arms to get camera to go to them very aggrevating AND this has to be a setting as 86,89 yr olds seem to forget how to deal with remotes of any kinid and cordless phones. KISS principle here ! should be a firmware upgrade COME ON Google ! get a developer to skip his gourment lunch or breakfast and update the code, OH also 'an auto answer' feature ALSO for older folks. you do this i guarantee you i buy a device for my office, my office at home and sing its praises to all my IT friends (thats two sales right out of the gate, well worth the developers 45 mins of coding ! -

the default auto smart feature is the most dumbest thing introduced. It should be default as manual and if anyone needs that **** feature they can enable..there is no default settings. how did the company ever launch such a stupid product without a basic review. now i am stuck with not being able to return this product.

This should have function like the Mevo where you have preview in Portal mobile app and you can pinch and zoom around.

With a recent update to Portal standalone devices (not TV), they removed/broke manual pan and zoom completely for both Messenger and WhatsApp. All we are left with now is auto mode of the camera. So they are clearly headed in the opposite direction.

Please add manual mode to portal TV. I've been wanting to purchase one but without that mode because of what I do it would be useless.

Agreed - lack of manual zoom is preventing me from recommending portal tv to others.

I agree, this is unacceptable to not be able to adjust and freeze the zoom. I might return my portal tv to Amazon if this is not rapidly implemented.

The thing that is not satisfactory is why didn't Facebook design Portal TV with complete feature parity? The only difference should be the input model - touch interaction vs remote control. Apparently, you can pair a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard too with the Portal standalone devices - is this possible with the TV? There is no reason why core features like manual zoom should be unavailable on Portal TV. Please fix this, Facebook!

I was really hoping to use portal tv for online sport during COVID lockdown, but with this autozoom the portal is pretty useless! I will wait a bit to see if facebook is listening to their customers when all other companies are doing above and beyond during this tough time.
I will return the device before the amazon return window expires if this is not fixed...
