Allow Portal TV to manual zoom
Portal TV currently does not support this great feature that is in the other Portal devices --being able to manually select the zoom amount. For some instances where you want to have a room to room experience, the auto-zoom actually zooms too much for a large TV screen.

holding down the center button on the portal tv remote does not do anything... I just bought the thing and it has the latest firmware... will be returning what otherwise could be an awesome device :(

If you hold down the center button on your portal tv remote, it turns the zoom feature off!

Please please please enable the manual zoom!!!! This feature will be a lifesaver during the COVID-19 lockdown. I need to teach Taichi classes online, where the whole body must be visible, and without it Portal is useless for online classes, so I must go back to using gopro which is way more hacky but it works :(

Please add manual mode to portal TV. The other portals are exceptional personal training tools that I use regularly

Facebook deserves to lose all of their "customers".
A video conference camera that has auto-zoom that doesn't work (does not use its facial recognition to ensure that all call participants are visible, and "automatically" clips people out of frame) and can't be disabled or manually controlled?
You can't do security, you sell all the data you steal from your "customers", and you can't build functional products. Is there ANYTHING you can do well that isn't theft?

To add to this, with the family having portal TV's my sister had to give up using it to teach yoga in lockdown as the zoom feature would crop in too close and not allow those viewing to see the positions. Niche case i know, but it does seem ridiculous that having purchased this fantastic bit of kit she had to revert to using her phone.

This is a major irritation for my family! Obviously with current lock down I was hoping this would allow my parents to stay in touch with my 1yo without me trying to wrangle him and a phone or tablet... But it cuts him out 90% of the time unless I keep him next to my face. Please allow us to manually control the focus and window of view! It also seems to favour my husband as when he enters the room it ignores me completely even though I'm the one talking and gesturing. I'm seriously considering returning this by the end of May if this isn't resolved...

I agree with this - the portal often zooms too far in to the point where the image looks pixilated on the big screen (Made worse in the evening with low light). An option in the menu (a bit like the audio mix for sharing video) where we could reduce the default zoom level on a sliding percentage from the default would be a good start. This must be really easy to do to just surface a global togle to reduce zoom by X%. Additionally the ability to toggle in a call would be great along with just seeing the whole frame.
The smart zoom is good and a nice wow feature - that being said i do feel it enhances the portal standalone devices more with their smaller screens where the subject can fill the smaller screen which you might be looking at from a distance rather than the portal TV where the image is being displayed on very big display.

Users should be able to manually control the camera on the Portal TV. Zoom, angle, etc so users can adjust the focus of the camera when it picks up motion that should be disregarded ( ike a dog walking by)

Would be great to have this like you can on the other portals

Even if initially it was an option to turn the auto zoom off that would be nice for the portal TV. I think the auto tracking is nice sometimes, but ends up going way to far zoomed in sometimes.

The auto camera movement causes motion sickness for my mother in law. I'm seriously considering returning this device if we can't manually control the camera.

None of the portal have the ability to disable zoom and stay full angle at the moment.

The zoom feature needs to be adjusted or disabled in settings. The auto zoom doesn’t see my child as a face and won’t follow my arms. So I can’t show my kid to my parents unless I hold him up to my face. It cuts his head off while holding him. What if I wanted to show off my dog? I’d have to lift the dog to my head or bend down to the dog.
