This would be an absoloubt hit for families of Dementia Sufferers. My Mother has forgotten the command to answer Portal and can no linger grasp it. Facebook Portal could open this up to a whole new market of users if they coukd quickly get a handle on this - especially with C19 lockdowns in so many territories around the workd

It is possible with an echo show.
Unfortunately the screen is too small for my husband who has poor eyesight. -

My husband is on a ventilator and his vision is very poor. He is quadriplegic and is in the hospital. Because of Covid our visits have been very limited. Right now we try to FaceTime with cell phones the nurse has to hold the phone up to his face because his eyesight isn’t the best. His son just purchased a portal which would not have to be held and has a much larger screen it would be so much easier not to take the nurses away from other patients when we call. Just him being able to see us and us him it’s just everything to us.

Adding our wish to these comments that accessibility features include Auto Answer for trusted "friends." It is really would help with communication with our 92 year-old mother who is confined to her assisted living room due to COVID.

For people looking for solution for auto answer, set up tablet with Skype on it for the person who can't answer. You can set auto answer in Skype and works great. Just leave the tablet charging and on all the time and you will get connected automatically connected. Pity Facebook isn't as good as Microsoft for disabled people

Skype has this feature of auto-answering calls. Please add this to Portal devices too. For added protection, it would be nice if only calls from selected people can be auto-answered.

Yes please. I currently use an iphone to communicate with my Mum using Facetime, and I can get it to autoanswer. I'd be interested in the Portal if it had an autoanswer function. It makes sense! My Mum cannot use technology at all because she suffers from Dementia!

Gobsmacked no simple voice commands to answer and end calls?!!!
Bought for Australian conditions thinking FACEBOOK has the best techos & technology in the world, and this will do just what I need and be the beez neez!! BUT NO! Portal no smarter that my mobile app? The market is huge for this IF IT HAd SIMPLE ONE COMMAND TO ACTION!
...i MUST HAVE MISSED THE FACT that FB Portal doesnt have the functionality I must have dreamt it has.....
for me and for use at my 85 year old Mums house so she could say, as the tv rang "Alexa Answer! and Alexa End call when completed.
But NO!
Guys launching this without anything more than what we can have on our mobile app is simply crazy for a billion dollar company.
Put a few guys on and knock on the market where billions can only use their voice.
We await for this update.

Yes, please. An auto answer would be great for my elderly father. He has a hard time using and seeing the remote to answer the portal tv.
Does anyone answer these posts?

Please, please, please add a configurable auto answer feature. Portal works great for my Alzheimers parent, but only if someone is there to answer it. He can't remember how to answer. Just open up the SDK a bit and let us at least configure to auto answer for trusted callers. So excited to use this tool with my parent, but my hopes may be dashed by this barrier

I also have a mother with dementia living in an independent care facility. We want to maintain as much freedom for her as possible/safe and having an auto answer feature would be a game changer for her. She gets so frustrated trying to press the answer button while the portal is yelling instructions at her. We moved her to a nanny cam which at least allows us to see her and communicate through an intercom, but it would be better for her to be able to see us. The portal is currently the most expensive small picture frame we’ve ever purchased.

This feature would be extremely helpful. She gets so frustrated tying to answer. Her hand is holding the portal while she tries to touch the button and that won't work. This is the only reason I am considering going back to Alexa. Facebook portal is so much better but only if the dementia patient can answer it.
