Facebook Messenger Group Chats into Portal.
It would be so good if you could take an existing group chat from Facebook Messenger and dial everyone at once via Portal? With the recent isolations being able to bring the whole family in to a video call at once would be great (rather than having to start with one person and then layer on each person in turn).

Bought a portal to use with a weekly messenger group video call. Couldn't find my group in the portal. Was able to start the call on the phone app and then transfer to the portal, but then it would ring everyone in the group. Wish this product was more flexible.

I was very surprised when I got my portal and it didn't have this functionality. Why would you ship a product without such basic features?

Agreed, i have several groups on my messenger that i can't use on the portal. I would not have bought it if i knew it had such basic limits. I definitely caution others against making the same mistake.

To get round this I use my phone to call the group, including the portal, then when everyone is on I close my phone's connection. Not ideal and if it can import individual contacts it should be able to import groups.

I agree - I bought a portal TV for exactly this, and I’m now just packing it back into the box for a refund. Pointless having to add people one by one, or having to setup a “room”. Just make it easy - access your existing group chats and call everyone!

This now works as of July 2020 if you last called a group and it is the recent calls list on the home screen. Simply tap that and it will do a group call to whichever group call you did earlier.

Actually thinking about returning my new Portal TV because it doesn’t have this feature. It would be nice if the whole messenger app was on their and we could add a Bluetooth keyboard to be honest!

Yea I am running into this issue right now -- I'm on a group chat that I left for a minute and now want to re-join because there are others on the call... but I can't so I had to re-join through my phone.
