I would like it if I could use Zoom with the portal
Great news – the Zoom app is now available on all Portal touch devices running software v1.9.2 or later. You can to start and join Zoom calls directly on your Portal, Portal mini, or Portal Plus! Simply look for the Zoom app in the Apps folder, and install it to get started! While using the Zoom app, you can tap in the bottom right corner to access Zoom’s settings menu.
As always, we greatly appreciate everyone who submitted or voted for this idea, as well as your patience while the team has worked to make it a reality. We will continue to look for opportunities to improve to the Zoom app, so keep leaving your feature requests on our UserVoice channel. Happy Zoom-ing!

Hello,
Can you please let us know when Zoom will be available on Portal TV? Is there a issue as available on everything else. -

I just bought a Portal TV after seeing this uservoice item had been completed in March and was confused when I couldn't find a Zoom app. It took me a while to puzzle out that Portal TV is not included in the Zoom support just yet.
I understand that prioritization happens and only touch devices are supported at first. Zoom obviously supports some degree of interactivity (chat, likes etc.) and enabling even limited functionality over remote would be more challenging.
That said, please consider a a couple of suggestions here.
- Change the title of this issue to be more apt (for e.g., "...with the portal touch devices"
- Link to an official issue that tracks the status for Portal TV
- Set expectations with the community, i.e., us - state what you know about Portal TV support to the degree that you can share today. For e.g., it's coming, not coming, it's not planned yet etc.; if it's coming then share when if you can. -

Is there another user voice for Zoom on Portal TV? If not, then this enhancement shouldn't be closed.

But it won't allow me to be added to a breakout room by the meeting host.
IT'S BROKEN!
This is a feature of the basic (free) Zoom account. Why is it not supported? -

Also if they can add Portal TV. My family does lots of tours and would love to see them on the big screen.

Vendor lock-in is terrible for end users.
I don't want to use your messaging/conferencing apps (except for WhatsApp), I only want to use the camera hardware.
I can't control what conferencing solution my employer chooses (Zoom, Google Meet, etc). I don't want to use Messenger as I generally want to avoid my Facebook friends -- with close family and friends I use Zoom and WhatsApp.
Vendor lock-in is a bad idea if you want your product to become mainstream.

Right now educators are making a mad scramble to figure out how to teach with a moving camera. Enabling Zoom would literally place a Portal station on every classroom. This could get the hardware into so many schools and homes - and let people try everything -else- Portal has to offer.

I received the Facebook Portal (10") as a gift. It seemed to be perfect for a Zoom meeting, but I hear it won't connect with Zoom. I also am concerned it won't function as a full featured browser. I am trying to validate its usefulness before I open the package.

Facebook must be smoking ***** if they think support for only their social apps will keep this hardware afloat, For the same price as a zoom, you can buy a tablet that does have the support of all company apps. Zoom has already sealed its place as the workplace meeting app of choice. Y’all could of had that too but you missed that ship a LONG time ago.

This would be nice as not everyone wants to use messenger.
