We are now living through a time in which products like the Facebook Portal can be a tremendous help to everyone. Even though many people need to stay in their homes, there is still the need to interact with others.
The portal offer this ability and for senior citizens who may have no other means of communicating it is way beyond the word "helpful".
There are many people, including my wife who has Alzheimer's, who cannot easily answer the Portal. She tried to say "hey Portal", but she sometimes pauses between the two words and the device does not recognize it as a command.
For the next several months the Portal may be the only way a good number of people are going to be able to be in touch with another human being. And being able to see the other person is hundreds of times better then just hearing their voice on the phone.
I find it very hard to believe that adding the "drop in" feature on the Portal would not be possible. Amazon did not have this feature on the Echo for a while and then it suddenly appeared. My point being, it should be something that can be added to the software as an upgrade.
The Facebook Portal is advertised as a way of keeping generations in contact with each other. Someone needs to realize that not everyone is able to answer the device, but needs to be able to receive calls. I don't know the numbers, but I would guess that of the Portal owners, a very large number of them would greatly benefit from this feature. And if it were to be added and then advertised as a feature, sales would greatly increase, especially during these times of being restricted from being with other people.

I just purchased a Portal + for my 92 year old mother-in-law and have tried to teach her how to press the BLUE BUTTON but she is very confused as the BLUE BUTTON isn't always there !! Also when she tried to press it she sometime swipes up and then messes up the volume. Give then Covid-19 problems can this feature be added even ASAP.
It would also be great to have the ability to remote admin the Portal to RESET all the things a 92 year only can do even though they "didn;'t touch anything".
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE

We need auto answer / drop-in function NOW!! I was told by technical support over a year ago that this feature would be added soon.
Skype had this years ago, If it is not available soon I am going to ditch the portals and get a Amazon Echo, which has had "Drop-In" since it's launch -

Autoanswer would be such a helpful and meaningful addition to improve quality of life for our older generation that can't touch the screen well or use voice commands, especially with Parkinson's and similar challenges.

As we are not allowed to answer from distance to the portal, via our mobile , i wanted to use a Broadlink RM pro remote control.... but i cannot learn the facebook remote control ! why ?
The remote " broadling rm pro" allowed me to manage at distance from mom, her lights, curtain, tv... except portal !

That a great idea for Mam ! She is not able to answer with the telecomand or to talk enought loud to Alexa ! so for example you can do an auto answer enable with the app...
All family need this option ! -

Completely agreed! My grandma is 90+ yr old and there is no way she can get up from the wheelchair or yell across the room to answer the call.

I would love to see auto answer feature that allows people that have lost the use of arm and speech to still use the products. So if i call there will be an auto answer so they dont have to struggle but still be able to see family.

We need to make it so it has auto answer. Altzhimers is in our household and it would be easier for my mom to talk to family members.

The auto answer should be with a check box for trusted contact for auto answer , like trusted devices that doesn't like your phone.

You could double or triple your sales if you would allow it to be set up for "Auto-Answer" or "Unattended Answer". (with proper set up and credentials) Think of all the people who want to check in on an elderly loved one in an assisted care facility, when the loved one either cannot talk, or use hands to touch screen. My Mom's had an iPad with FACETIME for several years, she's 94 this year, but getting harder for her to touch screen....
