Hey Portal won’t work
Can anyone help - Alexa is working on the portal but Hey Portal won’t - it flashes like it has heard but will not respond. We are trying to set it up in hospital where my Mum is for Christmas. Clearly microphone is working as she had Alexa working. Any ideas out there?

Alexa settings - ability to change wake word
Alexa settings need ability to change wake word.
Currently we cannot change it to any other word then Alexa. Which means it's not same as rest of the household device that use different wake word2 votes -

I'm currently trying to teach my Dad with Alzheimers how to use Facebook portal TV so we can stay in touch. He's struggles to use it because he says 'Hi PortAL' and can't get the words 'phone [my name]' out fast enough. He feels like such a failure when it doesn't work. Is it possible to get Portal to recognise Hi instead of just Hey and port-AL rather than just portal. Also it would be great if it can listen out for commands a tiny bit longer, while my Dad finds his words.

Voice Command Response Delay Option
I brought the portal for my family relative who is paralyzed.
He has the ability to talk but cannot do so quickly as he has had a tracheostomy. As you can tell voice command speakers and phone settings are a lifesaver for him giving him some personal freedom.
However the portal responds very quickly after the command 'hey portal' It would be great if there could be a update to delay the voice command response giving my family member time to give the full command. I would really be a helpful tool for him and would honestly give him such…

New wake word "Hey Facebook" is great!
I recently purchased 2 Facebook Portal TV. One of them allows the wake word to be changed to "Hey Facebook". My 85 year old mother has a Facebook Portal + and a Facebook Portal TV. She can only use voice commands since she has parkinsons and also gets frustrated with remotes. She loves the ability to say "hey portal" for her smaller portal and "hey facebook" for her portal TV. Please roll this feature out to all devices. I currently have to use the remote on the other facebook portal tv since it does not have the configurable setting.

Enable Alexa Announcements on Facebook Portal
Alexa Voice Services have made Announcements feature available to all third-party, Alexa enabled devices. However, this is not enabled on Facebook Portal.
This prevents Facebook Portal from being used as a speaker for Alexa Routines, or a screen for routines like - display my Ring doorbell when someone rings it. It's a simple fix it seems, and would unlock a huge extra range of functionality on the device.

How about a command, "Hey Portal, show serial number"
Hey how about making a voice command to show the serial number. Make things a lot easier for the users and the people at customer support instead making us go hunting for the number.

join zoom call with voice commands
The ability to join a Zoom call or Host a Zoom call with voice commands. Elderly users struggle with inputting meeting IDs and Passwords - especially Zoom requires upper case and lower case passwords characters requiring fine motor skill with fingers which many Elderly struggle with - either loss of feeling or shaky hands - voice commands are the lifeline to family - please add this feature.

Make Portal TV available for announcements ftom within an Alexa routine. It can be selected as a speaker to make an announcement.
You can tell Alexa to make an announcement via the Portal TV, where it appears in the list of available devices to make the announcement from. But if that announcement is part of an Alexa routine, Portal TV does not appear in the list of available devices. I can't see any reason for this omission and in practice it means I have to keep an Echo Dot near the Portal TV rather than being able to use it elsewhere.

Enable portal tv speaker in Alexa routines
I recently bought a Portal TV. Not impressed at all. But I did try to use the Alexa feature with some of my existing routines, that do something to a schedule then announce that it has been done. I can't select Portal TV as the speaker for the announcement. I also can't add it to a speaker group. So not only does it not work with Zoom, it restricts Alexa features too. Never mind, it has silly features like AI, and some other useless apps. Maybe it's intended to fit on a crib.

Allow user to disable the "portal" voice commands
Please give us a way to disable the Portal Plus voice commands. It is beyond frustrating that when I am on a video call and mention the word 'portal' it wakes up & interrupts me, turns my audio down, dims my video while it tries to interpret my conversation as a 'command'!
If it only responded to "Hey Portal" that would be OK, but simply responding to "Portal" is unacceptable.
Obviously turning the microphone off is NOT the solution :-)7 votes -
Give PortalTV Alexa speaker group membership
Although Portal TV is Alexa enabled it doesn't work as a member of a speaker group, even though it can be added to a group.

Fix the Alexa settings for activation word and language settings
Right now changing the language or trying to change the activation word in the Alexa settings does not work. So, bilingual households cannot use Alexa with the Portal device.

Change the hot word
My mom in india has difficulty saying the hot word and portal does not understand her accent. Can e we change the hot word to something easy or a word of her choice which portal understands

Allow me to use "voice control' to place a WhatsApp call
It is annoying to be able to call only people who have facebook with messenger on their phone with voice controlled "hey portal." I keep forgetting who has WhatsApp and who does not.
