If Portal could have better tie ins to the apps it uses it would make a more efficient device, for example, asking Portal to “Open Spotify” is far different than asking Alexa to open Spotify. With Portal, Spotify opens but everything must now use the touch screen. With Alexa, you cannot say “Open Spotify”, this will cause Spotify to just resume the music and nothing on the screen changes. However, the two can work together in a strange way, but only if you open them in the correct order. For example, when you tell Portal to open Spotify, the app displays on the screen but you can only ask Alexa to play music. Now if tell Portal to “Close Spotify”, the app will close but continue to play music, and once again you can only tell Alexa stop playing music. This is only one example but this is a constant pain to work around.
