I have bought him an echo 8 from amazon. with this device you can drop inn into his house and talk to him without he has to do anything. So it is a bit entering the privacy of a person without his permission, but in my case my dad loves it when I call him as a surprise and it is a great way to keep an eye on him. Yes, especially for dementia patients. Better if the Portal could first confirm a person is in the room and awake though. Related dementia feature would be to prevent outbound calls. I have a family member who would like Portal, but would also just keep calling out over and over simply because she would not remember she had just called.
