Especially during these times of our current global state, portal users and messenger kids users should be able to call each other. Yes, portal is designed as a smart home/assistant device but also is an option for those who are not as tech savvy as others or may not own a computer. I purchased a portal for my mother in law who resides in a senior living community due to her lack of knowledge and had this setup as not only something to help her with remembering things but also to communicate with her family members via video that she may not be able to see due to distance and her inability to drive. Now during the current Covid-19 pandemic, facilities like hers will not allow individuals under the age of 18 into the building and without portal and kids messenger integration it does not allow her to keep in touch with her grandchildren. I see this a huge oversight within the use of the device and can be easily resolved with a simple software upgrade. We are all being told to stay at home and save lives and during this time several companies are doing their part to lift the spirits of those in need. I believe this fix to help grandparents to see their grandchildren is something that can help at this time.
