I tried reading several of the stories to my 3 year old granddaughter and I found them to be excessively saccharine and moralizing. In addition, they took the stories that were familiar to her and twisted them around so that she didn't recognize them. For example, she has read the Three Little Pigs, but the story was so different, she couldn't join in with the Huff and Puff and blow your house down. Bruno Bettelheim once made a case for keeping the fear in fairy tales; these are watered down so badly, I am not sure I want to read any more of them.
