Use facebook Portal as intrusion protection alarm
When no ones is home (the phones are not in the house) or the alarm is turned on and a movement is detected, turn on the camera, start filming and initiate a call to the messenger app on the phone to warn of the intrusion. on your phone you can then choose to turn the screen on and speak with the intruders to make them run away.

Commercial idea
I bought 2 Portals and gave one to my daughter and her husband when they adopted a baby. I live in Ca. They live in Texas no family around.
I threw my daughter a baby shower, invited people over and watched her open gifts that were sent to her house. We decorated, had food and a cake!
We set up our portal and watched from start to finish . Everyone says it was the best idea and it was like my daughter was in the same room with us. I think it would make a great commercial!1 vote -

I would like to be able to watch Youtube and share the video while on a Facebook Portal call. My son and his papa love to Portal with each other and they want to watch videos together while learning about different topics.

Add a quality setting, 720p is just too low for 65 inch to 75 inch Televisions especially when the both users have gigabit connections

One touch video call
Could you make a default call mode that would allow us to always choose a video call with one touch? To default to always video chat? This would be helpful for an elderly relative.

Remote Shortcut for Portal TV
When calling some buttons are useless...
Maybe the mic 🎤 button can be use to mute mic
Maybe the play pause button can be use for switching faces.🤞🏻

Change Orientation on Group Calls
When I have a call with 2 people, it automatically shows both people on the left and right despite them being a landscape orientation.
This means that it cuts out a huge amount of their screen and if they have more than one person on their side, it's impossible to see them.
I can change my orientation so why can't I change their orientation on my screen to show top and bottom and be able to see everyone.

Provide a way to request the other party switch to video if they initially started an audio only call.
There have been instances where the other party initiated an audio only call and wanted to see my video. I hit the button to turn it on from my end and I could then see myself but they couldn’t see me and I couldn’t see them. It would be nice to make it easier for older people to be able to push a button to request video, then an obvious pop up comes up at the other end for them to accept or reject. If accepted both parties would them be sharing audio and video.

Portal should allow us to answer our home tv from another location.
I want to be able to send & answer calls from my office that I make to my home to my dogs and cats on a giant tv. How to answer without a human at home to accept the call.
Make that an option, and I'm getting one asap.

Show missed/ recent calls for WhatsApp user who don’t share their contacts with the app.
Portal will not show any activity (recent / missed) with WhatsApp integration if you don’t choose to share your entire contacts with the phone app. It should at least display phone numbers as the app does for chats.

Portal TV, issue with TalkBack and very large text: settings not reachable
I am configuring a Portal TV for my grand-parents. They can't see very well so I try to have the best display for them: high contrast, very large text and TalkBack (green lines around selected button).
I want it to be as simple as possible. When activating TalkBack, green lines appear around selected button: good.
You may have to reboot Portal TV to hear the voice also. Then, depending on the size of the text (default, large, very large), the main page layout varies.
With default and large sizes, you can see every button (Facebook Watch, etc.) but with very…

Portal Hand Gesture Recognition
To be honest I don’t believe gesture controls are great for phones... but I still admire the idea.
I really think this will be more useful on Portal, and obviously on Portal TV because “where is the remote?”
You receive a call, wave 👋🏻 your hand and voila!
You want to switch song swipe the air like a champ. Also if this idea is selected please make a Rock, Paper, Scissors game app just for fun.
Thanks.

Disable bluetooth device instead of removing it.
I have a device video conference speaker/microphone combo but I use it also for another device other than the portal. But when I turn on the device if it's paired with the portal it automatically connects. I'd like it to ask me if to connect because I may not want to connect and instead I want it to connect to other device. If you can't implement the question then I'd like to be able to at least disable the device instead of deleting it so I don't have to re-pair it later.
