1. Be able to move OUR video picture on Portal TV to any corner of screen

   Our son bought us a Portal TV when our first grandbaby was born (COVID prevented us from visiting). Well, when a baby crawls or walks around, it is always in front at the bottom of their video feed and our picture obscures the view. Yes, I can minimize our picture, but would really like to be able to move it to the top left or right as desired. Thank you!

2. malke portal as easy to set up as it is on the advert

   we bought a portal to speak and see an elderly friend, but we can't speak to him on both of our portals. one of us has to be on our phones, we have tried calling his pportal and it calls his phone and vice versa. a nightmnare to set up and this was not advertised. what a piece of rubbish.

4. New wake word "Hey Facebook" is great!

   I recently purchased 2 Facebook Portal TV. One of them allows the wake word to be changed to "Hey Facebook". My 85 year old mother has a Facebook Portal + and a Facebook Portal TV. She can only use voice commands since she has parkinsons and also gets frustrated with remotes. She loves the ability to say "hey portal" for her smaller portal and "hey facebook" for her portal TV. Please roll this feature out to all devices. I currently have to use the remote on the other facebook portal tv since it does not have the configurable setting.

5. Allow 1080 camera streaming on portal TV

   The portal TV has a good camera, but only streams in 720p. On a big TV screen, this doesn't seem as high quality as you'd like. As long as the device doesn't overheat, I think 1080 should be offered.

8. INSTALL ISSUES

   DURING INSTALL: Turn off option for Talk .. Back. It is totally confusing for Seniors with little technical know-how.

   DURING INSTALL: Could not scroll down into Wifi signals outside of page 1 .. either using 2 fingers or 1 fingers. This seems like a bug to fix. The only solution was to sit next to a Router source, that was not conveniently located so the signal was strong enough to go towards the top of the list on page 1.

   Hyper-V is Microsoft’s native, or bare-metal, hypervisor for creating and managing virtual machine (VM) environments. It has multiple operating systems running on a single physical server.    What Are the Features of Hyper-V?

   Shielded virtual machines: Hyper-V’s shielded VM feature utilizes BitLocker technology to keep virtual machines secure from malware attacks and data tampering attempts. Secure Boot is another security feature that protects virtual machines against unauthorized access, even from system administrators.

   How Does Hyper-V Work?
   Hyper-V supports various versions of Windows Server, Windows and Linux distributions to run on virtual machines as guest operating systems. It requires a processor that includes Second Level Address Translation (SLAT), present in the current Intel and AMD processors. The host machine must have at least 4 GB of RAM for running three to four basic virtual machines. You can leverage a more powerful physical server to host more VMs on a single server or provision VMs with higher processing power.

   Hyper-V hypervisor provides an isolated space to multiple virtual machines sharing the same hardware platform by means of a partition. For running Hyper-V, at least one parent or root partition must be running a Windows OS. Hyper-V runs in the parent partition and can access hardware components such as the physical processor. The parent partition then creates child partitions using the hypercall application programming interface (API). Guest OSes or virtual machines run on these child partitions. As such, child partitions do not have direct access to the hardware components of the physical server. The hypervisor handles the interrupts to the physical processor and utilizes Input-Output Memory Management Unit (IOMMU) to map physical memory addresses to the virtual addresses of the child partitions for forwarding interrupts to the respective child partition.

12. Feature removals = Lack of commitment and respect to paid customers

    The removal of ambient mode video playback is at least the third significant feature Facebook has removed without explanation since my family’s owned four Portals – $600+ worth – in the past two and a half years.

    It’s unacceptable for Facebook to be doing this repeatedly, as it demonstrates a lack of commitment and respect to its paid customers (vs. free/ad supported), and some wrongheaded notion that lesser used features of hardware products can or should be removed simply because that can be done through online firmware updates.

    As consumers, we select hardware products that suit our needs and lifestyles based on their capabilities at the time of purchase, and our rightful expectation is for all those features to continue working for the device’s useful life. When we buy a new car, the FM radio doesn’t just disappear after six months, and then cruise control in a year, and the glove compartment a few months later, while the automaker justifies those removals by pointing out the car still has four wheels and performs its primary job of transportation.

    Facebook’s most upsetting surprise Portal feature removal was eliminating ambient mode display of tagged photos of selected Facebook friends, a huge let down for all of us who’d purchased Portal for our senior parents and grandparents to enjoy new and past photos of their children, grandchildren, and relatives automatically displayed on their countertops. In our family, we expressly purchased our fourth Portal earlier this year for our parent’s enjoyment, only to be dismayed in learning it was no longer possible, and that purchase turned out to be a waste of time and money.

    And going back to late 2019, Facebook’s removal of the ability to transfer video calls between Portal and mobile or desktop Messenger clients was also disappointing, as we’d come to rely on that for switching to Portal from an active mobile call when we arrived home, or from Portal to mobile to continue talking while moving about the house. Now, we’re stuck on whichever device we placed or answered the call on, unless we hang up and start over from the other device.

    I truly cannot understand why the Facebook Portal product team decides to remove original, working features that made Portal uniquely enjoyable and useful for extended families, and set it apart from Echo and Google Nest smart displays. And while those abilities were being removed, there’ve been few meaningful new features or apps added. (Notably I’ve been waiting two+ years for Google Assistant integration, so I can eliminate the Lenovo smart display in my kitchen that I use for voice-based home control, information, reminders, and recipes.)

    Facebook, please figure out ASAP that Portal owners are your customers paying hundreds of dollars for hardware products with your brand on it, and using them daily and prominently in our homes, buying and recommending them for our friends and families, etc.

    Portal owners reflect your most dedicated FB users, beyond the free/ad supported public masses for whom you're constantly changing and evolving features and experience to maximize revenue and usage hours. You need to apply a different bar on your feature and user experience changes, than you do with general Facebook functionality. With Portal, you need to think more like Apple and Amazon in that respect.

    I suspect all of us Portal owners would much prefer having Portal-like capabilities in smart displays from our mobile or home ecosystem vendors. The Facebook Portal is a strange one-off, that we embraced for its uniqueness. But you've been slowly degrading that uniqueness, to the point that what Portal made possible for us is no longer there, or preferable to what's offered on other smart displays.

14. Special “settings” for elderly

    Most elderly and users with “special needs” need the most simple and easy-to-use features of the portal devices. Typically just to receive and make video calls with a few family members.

    Develop a “Settings for Elderly” menu where it is possible to add, choose or remove many of the features and menus that typically makes it difficult and simple to use the device.

    An example: My 90year old Mum has the Portal TV (just to receive incoming video calls). She will get one of the 2 new fantastic Portal GO I just bought to make it even easier to have video calls. She has no needs for pop-up menus, feedback requests, voice control, endless list of friends show on the screen, clock, Spotify, Story teller…..and so on! She need the absolutely most simple setup possible. Currently the features on Portal might confuse her and make things tricky to manage…even though it seems simple to others.

    The “Settings for elderly” would allow to make exactly the setup that fits to that elderly person. In case of my mum some of the settings could be the following;

    • Auto answer an incoming video call (timer with seconds when device answers call or remotely possible for the trusted caller to “answer the call”
    • “x” number of friends to call/receive calls from to be shown on the main menu screen
    • Big clock” as screen saver
    • Battery level

    Especially a possibility for remote access to setup and handle a Portal device could be great (access with special code from initial setup of the elderly’s portal)..remotely increase sound, accept incoming call, reduce screen light, ringing volume etc etc…:)

    Should be possible to find out which kind of “settings for elderly” are needed as the needs are different from person to person.

    This is a huge opportunity for Facebook to develop on Portal as there is a clear need for this! Imagine if “special settings for elderly” was a build into smartphones, TV sets, tablets etc. …. Fact is that this feature really does not exist…yet!

20. FaceTime App on Portal +

    Apple Opened up FaceTime for android and other platforms through links starting iOS 15, it would be great if Portal has an app or support FaceTime calls through some other means like browser.
