Isn't time to set the differences aside and fully integrate Facebook Portal with Alexa? Think about the revenue Facebook would have if you can say, 'Alexa, show me the front door' and your Ring device works, or Alexa, what's the forecast outside, and you get the information you need, how about saying Alexa, 'PLAY MUSIC EVERYWHERE' and it plays the music you want to hear on all your devices including the Portal. The reason I got the Portal was to stay in touch with family and friends by way of video chat, but, if your Portal can do so much more and finally integrate itself with Alexa think how cost effective that would be rather then trying to hash out your differences why not work together and accomplish so much more for your customers? I would love to be able to say, 'Alexa, play music everywhere' and it does, on ALL my devices including my Portal, now there is a reason to sell more Portal's, it really works well with Alexa, video chat too and so much more! Facebook, listen to your customers we know what we want!

Do need this

I understand it was possible previously to add Portal as a speaker, but this no longer works. This is really important because it breaks a use case for Portal - playing music while displaying lyrics. So now if I want lyrics to be displayed on Portal, I can only play the music using the portal speaker - as soon as I try to use my amazon stereo pair as the speakers (for higher quality stereo sound), the lyrics no longer display on the Portal because it can't be included as one of the speakers in the room.

Total rubbish set up my whole house with all my dots, spots & echo’s the lounge obviously has the portal but can’t play my music in the lounge the same time as everywhere else!! Come on Facebook pull your finger out and work with Amazon to sort this with a software update

Totally agree with this, I bought Portal as it had Alexa and thought it would be able to be used in conjunction with my Echo dot just like Echo show can be used with Echo dot.
Very disappointed to see there is no multi room function. Quite misleading on advert really. One sees Alexa mentioned one thinks there is compatibility.
Hopefully soon, but with an update, not having to buy a new generation.
