Instagram should have an events section where users can post events they're having to a public calendar that can be seen only by those who follow them. For example, if I were running a comedy show, I could create a post that would link to the event in the calendar section where my followers can see the day, time location, etc. And it's already in the calendar so they don't need to save it themselves. All they would have to do is set a reminder the day of (or whenever).

On the other side of it, if, let's say, I wanted to find something to do tonight, I could go to my instagram calendar and see what events the accounts I follow are putting on. This could range from my friends to major venues. There could also be different filters as well that show much broader events happening in the area from accounts I may not follow. This events section would be a huge step up from the current model. Events are announced as singular posts, and users are forced to rely on external calendars and reminders.

As independent show or event runners, it would be incredible to have a physical calendar in the app itself to put our event. The events section can also be used for private events and parties. As of right now, users are using "partiful" to organize their events. It can all be managed on instagram.
