1. Can't see photos because clock or app menu overlays them

   The photo screensaver was running and we wanted to swipe back to a previous picture. However, touching the screen turned on the Clock so all we saw was the black background with the white clock numbers. Tapping the screen made the clock go away, but then the photo was overlaid by the App menu. Touching the screen again made the menu go away, but immediately activate the clock. So there was not way to see the full photo because everything kept overlaying it. So annoying!

4. Bring back video playback to ambient mode

   In the most recent major software update, we lost the ability to play videos from our linked photo albums in slideshow (now ambient) mode. We were using this as a way for the entire family to upload home movies which would play continuously throughout the day on our linked portal devices. Please return this functionality, as it was far more useful than static images only in ambient mode.

5. Make a way to setup portal tv without remote

   Make a way to use the app to setup portal tv.

   If remote fails you are instructed to do a factory reset of control still does not work you are now stuck with a non functioning portal tv as you can’t pass initial setup without the remote. I now have to wait for a replacement remote before I can use portal tv again and we live in the Canary Islands so have to either wait for someone to visit or pay postage and risk losing remote or it taking months to arrive.

6. Make the portal useable without remote including setup

   Make it possible to use app to setup and use portal Tv if remote fails.

   I have found myself with a now unusable portal tv as the remote failed and I now have to wait for a remote to firstly be shipped to uk address and then I have to either pay for postage myself(live in the Canary Islands) or wait for someone to visit before I can use the portal tv again as part of the process for testing the remote was a factory reset of the device and now can’t do anything with it without the proper remote

7. Watch streaming together.

   I’m surprised the ability to watch content together is limited to Facebook watch. Why can’t a call
   Run in the background when you use all other portal apps? This would allow you to use native apps like Plex to create watch parties and watch films on my portal tv with my family back home.     I'm confused as to the advert currently on your website promoting buying a Portal TV for mother's day which says "Enjoy Facebook Watch originals with friends ". The advert shows a Portal TV being used with TWO other feeds to the left of the screen....
    But my Facebook Watch on Portal TV only works with 1 other person/feed at a time...?

12. Restrict portal contacts to close contacts only

    Allow us to add a group of close contacts, and restrict portal to only being able to call these contacts by default. This would stop accidental calls to acquaintances that may have similar names for the voice recognition.

13. Add on an app that you can download books purchased or even rented from Amazon.

    I would love it if I could choose a book to read to my grandchildren and have it appear on the screen. The ones that are there that are animated are perfect, but it would be great to read a book of my choosing. If the book comes up on the screen, instead of having to hold the book up to be seen, I believe it would be a great learning tool for a child, and it would also keep them more engaged than watching me trying to fumble around to read and show the pages at the same time. The books could be rented online or purchased. I think it would make a great selling point for Portal and as it helps families that are unable to be together or even if mom wanted "5 Minutes of Peace", so another person could entertain that child by reading to them.

14. Fix Portal TV's HDMI-CEC so it doesn't block other devices

    I have two devices whose HDMI-CEC abilities don't work while the Portal TV is plugged into the same TV. These problems occur whether or not HDMI-CEC is enabled in the Portal TV settings.

    1. Normally when I cast a video to my Chromecast, the TV automatically turns on and switches to the correct input. But when the Portal TV is also plugged into my TV, the Chromecast fails to control the TV -- I have to manually turn it on and change inputs to get to the Chromecast. Unplugging the Portal TV restores the correct Chromecast behavior.

    2. Similarly, when running the command "echo pow 0 | cec-client -s -d 1" on my Raspberry Pi, it normally returns "power status: on" or "standby" depending on whether the TV is on or off. This is useful for automating TV functions for my family. However, when the Portal TV is also connected to the TV, this command simply returns "power status: unknown" regardless of the actual TV power status. Again, unplugging the Portal TV lets the Raspberry Pi read the correct TV power status.

15. Re-enable videos in the photo album

    I have several videos in my photo album and they've recently stopped playing in the mix of pictures that are displayed in ambient mode. They would play with sound muted, but I could unmute the sound to watch them. I have 3 Portals and this was one of the features I liked best. I'd love to see this re-enabled.

17. Please make ethernet adapters compatible

    I recently bought Best Buy brand ethernet adapter and it did not work with the new Portal+, so I was told to come here to make suggestion to ask to make all ethernet adapters to work with Portal+. I bought a different brand that Facebook recommended and it worked, it doesn't make sense that some specific brands only work with Portal+

18. Allow Photos on Facebook Portal TV Calls

    One of your biggest weaknesses is that you disabled photo taking between calls (at least between Facebook Portal TV users). Bogus security concern since it doesn't announce you are taking them, and if u like add a security feature to turn off or on for users. Your firmware notes seem to indicate you added it in, but it still says not supported yet. Since a huge amount of your uses are families with kids/grandkids, not being allowed to take photos is incredibly frustrating. Please add the feature!!!

    Kindly add support to "Matter" protocol, this will allow Portal to connect as a device with HomeKit and google not only Alexa which will open the door for portal to be much more than a communication device. it could be a sensor, security camera, speaker, that can be connected securely form any ios device or Mac and become part of the Smart Home in all kind of automations.

    Frankly, I was surprised not to see Facebook as part of the long list of companies in The Matter Community.

    Kindly add support to "Matter" protocol, this will allow Portal to connect as a device with HomeKit and google not only Alexa which will open the door for portal to be much more than a communication device. it could be a sensor, security camera, speaker, that can be connected securely form any ios device or Mac and become part of the Smart Home in all kind of automations.

    Frankly, I was surprised not to see Facebook as part of the long list of companies in The Matter Community.
