Replacement Remote Control or Remote Control App
Kind of odd but apparently there's no ability to purchase a replacement remote control or to download an App that can function as a remote on my phone. It's a little frustrating that my only option is to buy a new Portal TV?

love the portal, the remote didn't work out of the box and I can't seem to find a way to replace just the remote. It pairs fine but then unpairs as soon as the unit goes to sleep. It doesn't work after re-pairing. I have to use the phone app. I would like to have a new replacement remote, as it hasn't worked properly since day 1. How do I get one?

Are IR Codes available for the Portal? I have a URC Universal remote that takes only IR Codes.

In the current era of development, nobody likes to watch shows on their phone. Are you wondering how to mirror a phone to tv without wifi. Fortunately, there are some techniques to watch Netflix, YouTube, or anything on your smart TV. Yes, true! Well, as long as you have wifi.<a href="https://technumus.com/connect-phone-to-smart-tv-without-wifi/">HOW TO CONNECT PHONE TO SMART TV WITHOUT WIFI</a>

You can buy a replacement here (incredibly expensive, for what it is)

I need the cord that plugs into Facebook portal and then plugs into the wall. Is my only option to spend 29.99 from Facebook or can that cord be purchased somewhere else cheaper?

Can someone give me a phone number to contact the tech team. I am not on facebook and my remote control does not work. Only had it a few weeks. I have sent via contact us twice, but they have not replied. My E Mail address is susanwoolley@blueyonder.co.uk

Replacement remote £29.99
Hope that helps anyone who's lost theirs, it's still expensive but not as expensive as buying the whole set again

I just got a new one from Facebook. I had to send the serial number which is a pain in the neck to find but a new remote arrived 6 days later free of charge

Yes, I spoke to Portal CS and they sent me a new one in the post. However, please do try your TV remote, as mine works off my Panasonic remote/TV.

I tried using the TV remote trick but it didn't work, I went on the Portal customer TextChat service and asked what I could do. They asked for my portal serial number and are sending me a new paired Portal remote in the next few days. Its cost @£10 delivered but better than arseing around with TV remotes.

I have just had the same problem with my remote and resolved it. A few things to try.....REALLY get high powered batteries as the remote in these units drain batteries FAST!!! Try a hard reset on the box and try re-paring remote...see link below

Using the TV remote worked for me. The feature, known as HDMI-CEC, is on by default for Portal TV.
In my case, my LG TV (a 2020 model) had the function disabled by default. LG call this Symlink or ‘3rd Party Device Control’. Turned this on in my LG TV settings and then was able to use my LG remote to control my portal.
This worked for me even though my Portal app remote wouldn’t work and I was not able to change any Portal TV settings.

I was able to use my regular TV remote to control the portal by "enabling" the CEC function in the setting menu on my Vizio TV. I also see that if you type portal tv remote into amazon it does offer a number of remotes designed for other devices that I am thinking MIGHT work if you are willing to gamble. You would need to follow the portal instructions for pairing a new remote

I can't believe that there is no way to turn the Portal on without the remote. Who would engineer ANYTHING without a manual on/off switch. DUMB! I refuse to buy another one just to get the remote. TERRIBLE!
