Allow correction of proper name pronunciation
The portal mispronounces proper names and does not allow a means to correct this like Siri does.

Needs voice dictation
The on screen keyboard needs to have the microphone button like all cell phones. Typing out on the screen, especially on the browser, is labor intensive.

Needs a flashing screen for hard of hearing customers
My father is hard of hearing so he wears headphones to listen to his television. He doesn’t hear the portal when I call. If the screen flashed when I called he would see it to answer.

Make Portal kid friendly
Please consider adding parental controls as well as the ability to use messenger kids. We purchased the portal because my 5 yo stepdaughter lives across the country and thought the portal would make communication easier. The device seems very limited right now. We hope to be able to block access to the web browser.

Give Portal voice control over Portal apps
Portal has added some great apps, but does not provide voice control over those apps, which is very frustrating for a voice control device. If I have to tap the screen, and type in stuff, I might as well use my iPad. Please add voice control for all the Portal apps. I should be able to say, “Hey Portal, show me how to make chicken soup” and have a video pop up that does that, just like with the Google Home Hub.

Enable Alexa video skills
Portal really should have full Alexa functionality, most importantly, Alexa video skills. The limited version of Alexa that is built in to Porta does not take advantage of the screen or the many video skills that Alexa has, such as video news, screensaver videos, games, Amazon Prime Movies and Shows, cooking videos, etc. Defeats the purpose of having a screen; I could get an Echo Dot for $19.99 instead.

The camera should be able to convert from a smart camera to a regular wide camera
When I video called using my portal, there were 4 people in total with me and it kept on focusing on one or two people only. If there was an option to have it be a regular camera when needed and then can be a smart camera that follows people, this would come in handy a lot.

Needs much more Alexa and app support an
I need portal to support device groups through Alexa or I am taking a step back in home tech. I have many echo devices I my home and this was to replace the hub but it does not. Also needs to support Ring Video doorbell as well as other home hub devices. I plan on returning my portal until and unless these features are supported.

Allow longer video recording and saving / uploading
I want to use Portal + to track me as I make a selfie video or during a practice / workout session. This has a great camera and mic, can we use it to make videos? Please? No more selfie stick and poor sound quality
76 votesThanks for providing this feature request. As part of a recent software, we released the Photo Booth app on Portal. Photo booth allows you to take photos and short videos with your Portal and send them via Facebook Messenger. However, as this idea seems to be more about recording and saving longer videos, we’re going to leave this one open and change the title to better reflect this. Thanks!

Activate Self-view While Not In Call
Portal should provide a setting to activate the camera (i.e., Self View) while not in a call. This would be very useful for tasks such as framing, verifying field of view, troubleshooting, etc.

Display photos from my friends this day/week
I'd like to see news stories, specifically photos, from my Facebook friends from the last 24 hours, from the last day, or week. If it notices no one is watching, hold the newer content until someone is around to show it.

Live speech to text for my phone calls with my dad.
My dad is a baby boomer. He is hard of hearing/deaf. If my dad could read what I am saying and what others are saying in a video chat; it would literally change his life and the foundation of his relationships for the better. There are services that do this over the phone where a live person is interpreting and creating text but it isn't great and it doesn't have video. Integrate with messenger for kids
Since this is focused on the kids and keeping families connected. It would be nice to have the ability to integrate messenger for kids in,instead of it only having all of my contacts which is numerous.
I only want to see the 3-4 people on my calling list. Not my entire friends list.

Being able to connect to WPA2 Enterprise Wifi Networks
Currently the different kinds of wifi networks which we can connect to is very limited. Although "Portal was created with privacy, safety and security in mind" which is very understandable, so are many other products which allow us to be able to connect to other Wifi networks.
Examples of these are WPA2 Enterprise connections or ones which require more detailed specifications or allow certificates to be passed through.

It would be great if we could show photos from other sources on the Superframe, such as Google Photos, OneDrive, Amazon Photos, Flickr, etc.
