3. "closed caption" for video calls. My mom is deaf. this would be a great service to the hearing impaired.

   converting voice to text for closed captions would allow deaf and hard of hearing persons to enjoy the device much more. This could also be adapted to use for emergency help services. My mom can speak but cannot hear therefore if she calls 911, she has no idea if anyone is listening to her. If she could see a person and read the captions she could communicate better. additionally this would also be valuable on the regular messenger app video calls. Dang, maybe you just need to hire me. i just increased your audience by a few million....you're welcome. Just thinking outside the portal....... ;)

4. Could do with an Alexa drop in on the portal

   I love the drop in feature on the Alexa and thought I could get this when I got the portal but it doesn’t support it please bring it in the near future

9. 'Do not disturb' should be recurring and adjustable (both when it starts and ends).

   Every day I have to enable the 'Do not disturb'-feature again.
   Also, why 8am? Why can't I choose another time?

   It would be good if you can adjust the start and end time of the 'Do not disturb'-setting, and have the option to have it start and end automatically each day.
   This is the reason I don't recommend the Portal to others.

    Streaming problems should be addressed on portal plus. Owner of portal should be able to watch whatever streaming they wish such as Netflix, etc.

13. Filter background sound and fix echo between portals

    The portals pick up sounds from their speakers/your speakers in the mic and sends it back to the other user causing an echo. Many other video chat products do this today, it really seems like a must have for a stand alone premium chat product.

    Firstly, the portal (especially the portal tv) should try and cancel out sounds in my mic that come out of my speaker. Understandably that's difficult even though some other products manage to do this quite well.

    Secondly, and likely easier, is to just filter out background sound better. If there's a tv in another room, the portal picks it up and jacks up the volume for people on the call. It's obnoxious. If it's background noise, then filter it out. I can't have a conversation if anyone else in my household is doing anything.

    Especially the portal tv (receiver), it seems to echo the other users sound back to them and they hate it (sender is any portal product). I understand I can "fix" this by lowering my volume/disabling external speakers, but that's a ridiculous ask for a premium video chat product when I can just facetime for free and it doesn't have any of these problems.

14. Zoom sign-in per Portal User profile

    Currently as of 10/12/20, Zoom does not respect multiple Portal user profiles.

    Zoom will stay persistently logged in across any user profile that is currently using the Portal.

    For example,

    Portal User A is logged into the Zoom App using User A's own Zoom credentials.

    Portal User B clicks on the Zoom App in Portal User B's installed app list.

    Zoom User A will be shown as signed-in.

    NOTE: In order for Portal User B to use their own Zoom account, Portal User A has to sign-out.

    This is a major security concern! Applications are able to share data across user profiles.

    Please address this ASAP.

15. _Please_ let me permanently disable calls in the middle of the night; I keep losing sleep

    I have friends all around the world and also travel between countries often and bring my Portal TV with me. I keep getting calls in the middle of the night and this is waking me up multiple times per week. I have tried to use the "do not disturb" feature, but it keeps turning itself off every morning.

    It's incredibly upsetting that there's no setting that says "don't wake me up in the middle of the night." I know this isn't the product team's intent, but the fact that "do not disturb" resets every morning at 8:00 suggests that Facebook believes it knows better than me what time I should wake up, and also believes that I should be available to be woken up at all times of the night unless I beg it every single day to please stop. It fits right into the negative narratives about Facebook.

    I talked to Facebook Portal support and they advised me to just unplug the device. This is really ridiculous.

    I even have a friend who is an engineer on the Facebook Portal team. I've complained to the friend repeatedly without resolution; of course, it's not my friend's job to help individual users. So now I'm trying the official forum.

    Please, please fix this problem, from one tech worker to another.

17. Drop in/Auto call for dad with disability

    I bought the portal+ device for my father who recently had a stroke. Was dismayed to learn that the only way to answer is to say "Hey Portal, Answer" or to touch the screen. The stroke has impeded my dad's speech and mobility which makes the device incredibly difficult for him to use even for a simple video call.

    Please, product team for the portal. Your primary market for this product are people who need to keep in touch with their family. Auto answer is absolutely a must have feature. Unfortunately, I'll have to return the device and purchase an echo show which has features more suitable for my dad but isn't as good from a video call service perspective.

19. Make browser available for Portal TV, please?

    Please make a browser for the Portal TV so that I can log into other video conferencing sites on the browser during this pandemic. My children & I all use various different video conferencing sites to communicate with teachers, doctors, therapists, mentors, etc. We would desperately like to use our Portal TV to do family therapy as well, and the biggest screen in the house would be perfect for this task.

20. Enable Automatic Video Call Answering - Like Skype

    I have a grandma in a nursing home with dementia so she can barely speak and definitely can't move to answer a video call. Skype offers a feature that allows you to enable automatic answering for incoming video calls.
    The lack of this feature in portal is the only thing holding us back from buying a portal because even with voice activated answering, the device would be completely useless. My grandma isn't able to do this on her own most days.
