Integrate with messenger for kids
Since this is focused on the kids and keeping families connected. It would be nice to have the ability to integrate messenger for kids in,instead of it only having all of my contacts which is numerous.
I only want to see the 3-4 people on my calling list. Not my entire friends list.

Allow Portal TV to manual zoom
Portal TV currently does not support this great feature that is in the other Portal devices --being able to manually select the zoom amount. For some instances where you want to have a room to room experience, the auto-zoom actually zooms too much for a large TV screen.

Allow Alexa calling
Allow Alexa calling through this device . Alexa allows free calling, Lets us choose what calling program we want to use portal or Alexa. Make it a open platform and sales will go through the roof!

Make Portal kid friendly
Please consider adding parental controls as well as the ability to use messenger kids. We purchased the portal because my 5 yo stepdaughter lives across the country and thought the portal would make communication easier. The device seems very limited right now. We hope to be able to block access to the web browser.

Add "Hey Portal MUTE MIC/Camera" voice command
Please add this to her language. This would be an awesome feature. Please allow photo slideshow to still show when portal is muted. I noticed it turns the screen off . The photo thing is the best part we want to leave that going even if mic is off

Allow longer video recording and saving / uploading
I want to use Portal + to track me as I make a selfie video or during a practice / workout session. This has a great camera and mic, can we use it to make videos? Please? No more selfie stick and poor sound quality
76 votesThanks for providing this feature request. As part of a recent software, we released the Photo Booth app on Portal. Photo booth allows you to take photos and short videos with your Portal and send them via Facebook Messenger. However, as this idea seems to be more about recording and saving longer videos, we’re going to leave this one open and change the title to better reflect this. Thanks!

Please increase Call User Limit
During this stressful time, we are trying to keep family connected. We have a large immediate family and need more than an 8 user limit to call my 90 yr old Mom. PLEASE make this a priority!

Enable Alexa video skills
Portal really should have full Alexa functionality, most importantly, Alexa video skills. The limited version of Alexa that is built in to Porta does not take advantage of the screen or the many video skills that Alexa has, such as video news, screensaver videos, games, Amazon Prime Movies and Shows, cooking videos, etc. Defeats the purpose of having a screen; I could get an Echo Dot for $19.99 instead.

Add option to use Portal TV inbuilt speaker as default output device.
I know that it is lower quality than the speakers in the TV, but it is good enough and is the only way we found for my parents to not hear the start of every one of their sentences repeated back to them.
It should be an option in the software to select audio output device and use the inbuilt speaker instead of needing to go through the TV as this would solve our problems for us. The only way we can currently do this is by attaching a bluetooth speaker to the camera (which repeats all audio back to…

Louder ringtones for elderly parents!
Please make options for louder ringtones. My parents love seeing their grandchildren when they talk to them but seldom hear the portal ring from the other room or if the tv is on.

Reinstate the search facility on Facebook Watch. Without it I can't search for a livestreaming video.
My elderly mother's life was enriched by watching her church's livestream while she was in lockdown and now while she still needs to shield. Now she can't do that. The reason we provided the device for her was video calling family and watching church so she felt connected. She can't be the only one. Whose idiotic heartless decision removed it? Reinstate now for many people's wellbeing.

Stop auto switching fullscreen view
With a recent "update", Facebook has made a disastrous change to Portal video calling. If we fullscreen anyone in a group call with other windows smaller and on the left, faded out, the fullscreen view doesn't stay on whoever WE have chosen. It automatically changes without any user control over it, depending on whoever talks or some insane weird logic that I can't figure out.
I can no longer choose to focus on 1 person's big picture all the time (of my choice). It keeps switching the fullscreen view on its own to whoever speaks and makes the other windows…

TV should automatically switch on when someone is calling my portal tv
Currently when someone is calling my portal:
1. I need to use Tv remote and change source to portal hdmi
2. Then use portal remote to answer the callThis problem can be solved by picking up the call on mobile and then transferring the call to tv. But then again, tv should turn on automatically. Currently when I cast my YouTube videos to chromecast, my tv even if it is switched off will turn on.
