Move the self-view window during a call
Allow users to move the self view window to another part of the screen.

As part of a recent software update, the ability to move the self-view window during a call has been added to Portal, Potal+, and Portal Mini devices. Simply touch your self-view and drag it to another corner of the screen! As this functionality is not available on Portal TV at this time, we will be marking this idea as started. Thanks and enjoy!

Rechargeable battery that snaps onto the bottom of the Portal
This would allow you to be able to move throughout different rooms of the home without have to unplug the unit and disconnect the call and it would also add extra weight to avoid tipping over.

Bring back the ability to transfer between Portal and Messenger app on phone
There used to be the option to transfer an active call from the Messenger app on my phone to Portal or pull an active call from Portal into Messenger. Please bring it back! Since Portal needs to be plugged in, that feature was easier to continue long calls while moving about the house.

Facebook Messenger Group Chats into Portal.
It would be so good if you could take an existing group chat from Facebook Messenger and dial everyone at once via Portal? With the recent isolations being able to bring the whole family in to a video call at once would be great (rather than having to start with one person and then layer on each person in turn).

MAJOR FLAW - Allow Whatsapp to be signed into more than 1 portal at a time
Currently Whatsapp signs out of my lounge portal TV when i use my portal mini in the kitchen and visa versa, it is not feasible to constantly sign in to one or the other depending on where i am in the house. I would like both to ring when someone calls. Please confirm this is being worked on otherwise i will send one device back, as to me this is a major flaw that needs to be addressed, especailly for people outside the US who mainly use Whatsapp rather than messenger.

Remove rate call screen
After every call, the next screen is “Rate the quality of the call”. For an elderly person that is not familiar with using a touchscreen, it is very confusing. I don’t know why the quality of the call needs to be rated every single time. Please remove. I was hoping to use the Portal to call my 88 year old mother 2000 miles away. Not sure it is going to work. The following screen is to set up a reminder to make the same call. Annoying also.

Join ongoing group calls
The ability to click join, to join an ongoing group call. At the moment I have to ask everyone to close chat, and I have to initiate the calls. Whereas on my phone I can simply click 'Join' and be added to an ongoing call, we join and lave the same group call as and when we can during the day, easy.
I bought this device to make family chats easier, but i have to inconvenience everyone because my portal mini doesn't have the 'join ongoing call' function.111 votes -
Allow users to move the small screen with their face to other corners like the phone app
Portal is great, but having a bit more control over certain aspects of the experience would be excellent. Let us move the box w our faces wherever we want when using the device like we can when using the app on a smartphone!

Fix "half duplex" audio problems (cut outs)
This isn't as much of a suggestion as a bug report. The audio performance for the Portals, especially the Portal TV's, is very poor. The portal microphone mutes itself for a second when it picks up sound that came out of the speakers - resulting in half duplex (walkie talkie) style communication.
Participants then complain that it's "hard to hear". If you have a call where kids are in the room, or side conversations are happening, then there is going to be tons of random audio cut outs - making conversations painful or impossible.

Allow the Portal TV to stop Zooming and stay in "Full Frame Mode"
With more than one person in the room (on my end) I would like to be able to have the Portal TV STOP zooming on one person and stay in Full Frame mode to display whoever is in the frame (like multiple people sitting on a couch)

Remote control of settings
Allow remote control of the device via app or browser. I think Grandma's that might not be very tech savvy are a big market for this device. I bought one for my 96 year old mother in law. Everything worked great when I left her, but now..... I wish I could get in remotely and check settings or diagnose.

Intercom Features
Here are some features that would make Portal very useful. I am looking for a home intercom solution, but Portal would be awkward.
- I need to call room to room. Right now as I understand it, I would need to create an Facebook account for each room and call the room by its account. It would be nice if you have multiple Portals under the same Facebook account that you could call from one Portal (or your phone) to a specific room.
- I would like to be able to create groups ahead of time and make a group call right…

The last update sucks for seniors
Hello, I bought the portal for my visually impaired grandmother at Christmas 2020. Everything was fine, she was using it wonderfully and it really made her smile again in this time of covid. The icons for calling were large, they were easily found, they were in a defined order and were easier to remember. It was perfect ! and above all she really managed to use it on her own. But here it is, yesterday, an automatic update was set up and since then we have been very disappointed. The icons for calling have become very small, they change order…
